Liam: “Mommy, why isn’t my baby brother born quite yet?”
Me: “Well, he’s just now big enough to be born, but he probably won’t be for a couple of weeks yet.”
Liam: “Well , when the midwives come to help him be born, will you make sure they know my real name?”
Me: “Well, sure, kiddo….”
Liam: “NO!!! I’m not kiddo!”
Me: “Um…Liam?”
Liam: “No!!!! I’m not really Liam anymore!”
Me: “Um…Donald the Tickling Shark?? No?? Who are you?”
Liam: “I’m Leonard the Great Big Doggie Who Goes ‘WOOF’!!!”
Me: “Ah..I see. So that’s why you’re wearing Casey’s collar?”
Liam: “Yes, you see, I said WOOF and he gave me the collar. Because he knew I’m a doggie now. I change like that.”
Me: “Yes, you do. It’s fun, but very confusing, son.”
Liam: “NOOOO!! I’m not Son!”
Me: “Sorry, Leonard!”
Liam: “Mommy?? Please tell my baby brother to be born soon. I’m tired of waiting. Also, I know he’d like to see my “doghouse” and play with my kitty and tiger. “
Sounds good to me, kiddo Leonard. I’ll see what I can do to pass on the message…
Now THAT will be a mouthful of a name for the new baby to learn! It’s so sweet that Leonard/Liam is eager to meet his new brother.
p.s. 37 weeks! Wow!
woo hoo
can’t wait to hear your baby news.
wishing you peace and strength for the labour…
Love how excited Liam/Leonard is for his new baby brother to arrive. I also love his creativity and all of his names. Too cute!
Good luck with the next couple of weeks!!
he is so sweet.
and wow – 37 weeks! i am so excited for you and your homebirth.
cracks me up about the ever-changing names. ava does that a lot now with characters from movies. we’re all generally people from “annie” these days – annie, daddy warbucks, grace, mr. bundles and miss hanigan. she generally designates julian to be mr. bundles and then gets mad when i call him buddy or any of the other pet names i have for him.
Wow… you’re so close!!
Oh my! Has it been that long already? How exciting! I love Leonards ever revolving names.
