The phone was ringing this morning. Now, we have three handsets for our phone, two of which are generally downstairs. After four rings I had failed to find the phone and the answering machine had gotten it. I mumbled something about calling that person back as soon as I found the phone.
Liam: “Mommy? Mommy? MOMMEEE?”
Me: “Yes, Sweetie, what is it?”
Liam: “I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we glue some string on the phone? That way you could hang it up on the wall next to the keys that you don’t want to lose.”
Me: “Well, you know what? Back when all phones had wires, they did hang on the wall. They just don’t make them like that anymore.”
Liam: “Why not?”
Me: “That is a fine question, kiddo.”
I guess there are aspects of “The Good Ole Days” that really were that good!
Brilliant!
