The one where I said Kiri came thisclose to an ER trip on two occasions since Kevin’s departure? And where I mentioned how Gran-Gran would be coming up for a nice, relaxing visit? Well, then. Let me tell you what happened this afternoon. Ahem.
Gran-Gran and I had just gotten the boys out of the tub and dressed. Kiri was signing for “MILK!!”, so I headed off to the bathroom to put away his wet towel before nursing him and starting to cook dinner. The next thing I knew, he was falling off the bed, Gran-Gran was running to try to catch him, and then there were two crashes. One crash was Kiri hitting the floor, and the other was Gran-Gran tripping over a toy and falling into our dresser. I picked up Kiri – another bump on his head. I asked Gran-Gran if she was OK. She said, “I think I’ve broken my finger.”
So we gathered everyone up and assessed the situation. Liam did an amazing job scampering downstairs to find a cold pack for Gran-Gran. Kiri’s bump on the head was minor enough that after nursing he calmed down and aside from a brand-new bruise, he was fine. Gran-Gran’s finger kept swelling, and swelling. We went to the ER.
After waiting around a bit, we all got to go back with her. Fortunately, a subsequent X-ray showed no fractures. Unfortunately, it’s a bad sprain, and it hurts. She also managed to really, really bruise her feet tripping over the toys.
Hopefully tomorrow will be calmer. We’ll attempt to keep Kiri at ground level in order to minimize the risk to other family members. Hopefully also my youngest will prove himself able to go a full day without an accident of some sort.
If not, I guess it’s time to start a new blog category about Kieran and accidents.
Yikes. Here’s hoping that’s the end of the accidents!
Sheesh! Poor Grandma and Kiri!
Ally’s got two forehead bruises herself this week.
woah, so glad that angels were watching over you all.

Yikes! Enough accidents already! Hope Gran-Gran is feeling better and that this is the end of all the mishaps!!
Oh my goodness!!! Poor Gran-Gran, poor Kiri. I hope everyone is recovering nicely.
[...] welcome Gran-Gran to the Menagerie House. I just remembered that I did post about her toy-induced trip to the ER, but really, other than that one bad night, we all had a wonderful visit. Our only complaint is [...]
