We walked around together, Kieran munching his bagel and I sipping my coffee. A woman came up, giggled and cooed at Kieran, and then said to me, “I wouldn’t let him eat that bagel if I were you.” I thought she must be concerned about him choking on it, so I thanked her for her concern and assured her that Kieran has plenty of experience eating bagels.

She replied, “Oh, no, I didn’t think he would choke. It’s just…look how chubby he is. If he keeps on eating loads of carbs, he’ll be obese before long. It’s a childhood epidemic these days, you know.” And she walked off.

I don’t get out much, but seriously, since when is a chubby baby a cause for concern??

Sheesh. People these days worry too much.
